Day 1 - This was the shuttle bus that took me from Honolulu airport to Waikiki. The first local dialect I heard was from the station attendant. She was very jovial adding a lot of 'ya' s to the end of sentences (as if each statement she said ended with a question). 'It's been pooring rain for days, ya?' although I 'm pretty sure she was telling me and not asking me. I should have taken her picture.

I couldn't believe that such a small island had worse or comparable traffic to our famous 495 beltway. It took us 45 min to travel about 9 miles.

This is the Hotel I stayed at. The Embassy Suites @ Waikiki. The woman in the center checked me in around 9:30 am, I think I was still on East Coast time so all I could think about was getting into that room. I liked the background, and there are soft cushiony chairs and they bring you pineapple juice with grenadine while you wait. I don't think I've ever checked into a hotel that way before. It was also an open air lobby and the valet was a couple yards away. They make you park in a garage and pay $25 a night. There isn't 'mushroom' downtown.

The other views are from my balcony and the beach-walk. ES wasn't beach-front but very close. There was construction going on for the new Trump hotel. Every morning there would be about 20-30 workers going about their business like busy bees or soldier ants, rain or shine. The thing with the rain is, is that it doesn't last very long, usually it mists while the suns out and you get to see about 12 rainbows a day.
